Criminality is one map identity, SECTOR-07, with more than one ruleset. Pick the mode for the thing you are trying to learn.

Casual

Casual is the open roam with the softer penalty. Death loses less money, and that loss caps at $500. XP comes from the allowance, not from kills. Only high bounties pay cash. There are fewer combat zones, airdrops and blackouts are less common, and some gamepass weapons can spawn with you. The downed state is the legacy one, so a fight is less final than Standard.

Use Casual for the first session: learn registers, ATMs, and the two armories.

The Cope Games can start at random in Casual. An NPC stays on the map for about 5 minutes. Accepting strips your items and you cannot cancel. Do not accept while you are holding gear you care about. Named stages include Red Light, Green Light and the Glass Bridges. A later platform round shows a number and you have to share a room with that many people.

Standard

Standard is the mode that pays XP and lets you level into weapon unlocks. Prime (99 Robux) is required unless you already received Prime by buying the game before it became free on April 2, 2022. Kills are a real cash source here, and pocket cash still drops on death. A 2025 beginner video estimates about $200 for a kill, enough for a cheap pistol. Treat that as a creator's figure, not a printed payout table.

Downed players in Standard are in a harsher state than Casual. Do not expect the legacy self-revive.

Brawl

Brawl uses SECTOR-03, described as an extension of Infection's SECTOR-04. There are no dealers. Melees rotate as you get kills. Dying removes nothing. A kill grants XP based on the target's level and also refills max health. It is the mode for learning melee without losing a loadout.

A player mode tour says Brawl continues through melee stages and a late Hawkeye. That stage count is not confirmed in the mode writeup used here, so it is not listed as a rule.

Infection

Infection is the survivor round on SECTOR-04, from the 2022 Halloween update and brought back later. Survivors have to last until 6 AM. At 2 AM they are marked. There is a buying phase with a global dealer. A private Infection server needs at least 8 players. Winning as a human before 2025 was the Infection Survivor badge, released December 2024, and that badge is now marked impossible.

Removed

Competitive was removed in V1.3.4. It had no downed state, no looting, higher stocks, and kills granted 4x XP plus 7x cash and health. Do not look for it in the public menu.

Private servers can host these modes. The public map option named 07-Extended is the current SECTOR-07. See private servers.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do Criminality codes get redeemed?

Use an ATM in the world and open Redeem Codes. Chat and the settings menu do not redeem them. No code on this site is marked active, because October 2026 reports disagree.

Should I carry my cash?

Cash in your pockets can be lost when you die. Cash in the bank stays. Withdraw only what you are about to spend at a dealer or armory.

Do I need the Prime pass?

Prime costs 99 Robux and unlocks Standard, the mode that awards XP so you can level and unlock gear. Players who bought Criminality before it became free on April 2, 2022 already have Prime. Casual does not require it.

Which mode should a new player pick?

Start in Casual if you want the lower death penalty and time to learn the map. Move to Standard when you want kill XP and level unlocks. Brawl is melee-only on SECTOR-03. Infection is a survivor round on SECTOR-04.
